Binding and Other Services
Pressing, Clipping Threads: $25 hour. I will press your quilt top or backing as needed and clip loose threads so they won't show under any light-colored fabrics once the top is quilted.
Backing: Backing Fabric must be exactly square to prevent pleats on the back of your quilt.
I can prepare a backing for your quilt from your fabric which has been pre-washed and pre-pressed, $10 per seam. You will need to provide enough fabric so that once sewn, it will measure 8 to 10 inches longer and wider than your quilt top. Call me to discuss if you are unsure how much fabric will be required for your quilt top. Machine Binding: 15¢ per inch. I will prepare continuous binding (from 1 yard of your fabric) and stitch it to the trimmed quilt front, ready for you to turn it to the back of the quilt and finish stitching it down.
Machine-Finished Binding: 25¢ per inch. After machine binding is completed, it is folded over to the front and machine stitched close to the folded edge.
Hanging Sleeve: $12 Prepare a muslin hanging sleeve with a 4” opening ready for you to attach to the back of the quilt when binding is done. I can also prepare a hanging sleeve from ½ yard fabric which you provide.

Thread
$5 Basic Thread Charge, $7 Metallic or Specialty Threads. $3 Each Color Change.
Choose from solids, variegated, matte or shiny threads.
Thread color makes a difference with the backing fabric you choose. For instance, if you use a white thread on top and black thread in the bottom, there are bound to be dark dots on the front and white dots on the back (just like a regular sewing machine). High contrast threads have a tendency to show dots. I prefer to match the bobbin thread color to the top thread color to reduce dots showing through.
